The popularity of smoothie bowls has grown significantly over the past few years and for good reason! Smoothie bowls are a fantastic way to get creative with your fare and incorporate a lot more key superfoods into your diet. It is a known fact that we eat with our eyes first and smoothie bowls are the perfect eye candy. With varying colours and the contrasts of different fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds these creations are both visually appealing and a party on your palate!
The beauty about smoothie bowls is that you can literally enjoy them with a spoon for brekky and as an alternative to dessert. I like to make mine super thick, which gives it a soft serve ice cream consistency. Have a picky toddler who can’t stand veggies? These smoothie bowl creations are a great way to sneak extra veggies into the smoothie base and then have them “decorate” their own bowl with different toppings ☺
As much as smoothie bowls can be super good for you, you still need to use caution and make sure you are not loading them up with too much sugar. Remember, even sugar from fruits can wreak havoc on our bodies if consumed in excess – balance is always key.
With all of this said, here is a how-to for one of my favourite smoothie bowls that I like to make at home regularly.
